I’m a Bully. Yes I am.

You all know that the entire family living here at Dr. Zibners’ house has had their flu shots, right? Now that that’s done, I’ve began bullying anyone who comes near us, from neighbors to friends to babysitters to get their shots. Our “Uncle Frank” who is a very close friend and frequent visitor protested, claiming “I’ve only had that shot once in my life and I’ve always been fine!” To which I answered, “Yes you dope, that was when Eva was a 3 week-old and I personally dragged your behind to Walgreens, along with her father, and pushed you into that chair, standing over you until the needle was out and the Band-aid was on.

See, I’m a flu shot bully.

Most recently I worked on our babysitter who “never gets sick.” I just pointed out that she’s also never worked for a family where the mother goes into a hospital and purposely touches germy children, bringing home bits of virus and spreading them all over the front door, the banister and the kitchen counter. She caved.

It’s the germy children who do it to us, you know. Actually that’s the truth. Turns out that little kids with influenza shed more virus than adults and are contagious for longer than adults. That makes them the worst of the worst when it comes to influenza transmission. I learned that little diddy last night when I was invited to participate in a Flu Conference Call in anticipation of National Influenza Week, which starts next week.

Yes, there is actually a National Influenza Week. Who knew? Okay, so it’s not as big a celebration at our house as National Adoption Month, but it’s still worth bringing up.

Anyway, I learned lots. And I’ll be sharing some more little bits with you next week, because this flu bully has to stretch the fight out. But let’s just start here:

1. Children touch, lick, kiss and snot on every surface within reach and therefore are some of the germiest critters on the planet.
2. When it comes to influenza, they shed more virus (meaning they spread more viral particles) and shed for longer (meaning they are contagious for more days) than adults. This means when it comes to influenza, they are practically criminal in their behavior.
3. Influenza peaks in the US in February and March. Which means it’s not to late to get your shots.

Now excuse me, I’m going to see if there is anyone else I can get into a headlock and jam a needle into.

As a parent of five, I often volunteer in my children’s school.  I’m always amazed at what I learn and what I see in the span of just a few short hours - the coughing, the sneezing, the lack of handwashing and personal hygiene, not to mention the lack of personal space.  No matter how germ free I keep my home,no matter how much sleep my kids get, and no matter all the healthy food they eat, I’m still amazed at what their immune systems must battle in those 6 1/2 hours they spend in close quarters with all those germy kids at school.  While I’m totally against schoolyard bullying, I can accept the convictions of the flu shot bully.  After all, you are preventing harm, not causing it!  And if they don’t want a needle, you can always offer a bit of mist up the nose!

Blehh Barff blehh, I love to bully people into getting mercury and a bunch of other nasty stuff injected into them for no GOOD reason…

    – Carrie (12/07 10:40 PM)

I have 7 kids from 21 to 2 years and teach school. I never get sick and I NEVER get flu shots. My older children have asthma, learning problems and sensory issues, they were immunized. My 4 children that were not immunized or polluted with flu vaccines are high performers with high IQs. You can be a “bully” all you wish, but it is to your own detriment and that of your offspring. I believe pharmacuetical companies would refer to you as a “useful idiot”. Go ahead immunize, you like all bullstupidest stupid.

    – Momof7 (12/07 11:17 PM)

The flu vaccine has been proven to not even be effective so why waste your time, effect and health pushing this on your family and friends??

    – MumofOne (12/07 11:35 PM)

Until recently, scientists have blamed the rise in flu cases during winter on an increased tendency to congregate inside in groups. Low humidity has also been blamed, as viruses are said to survive longer in drier air. But the real culprit responsible for the winter cold and flu season may be vitamin-D deficiency.

It seems that, in the winter months, the sun is not strong enough to trigger vitamin-D synthesis in our skin, resulting in lower vitamin-D absorption.

To test this theory of vitamin-D deficiency causing an increased risk for getting the flu, researchers at the Jikei University School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan, recruited 167 school children for a clinical trial. From December 2008 through March 2009, the research team conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial comparing vitamin D(3) supplements with placebo.

The researchers found that Influenza A occurred in 18 of 167 (10.8%) children in the vitamin D(3) group, compared with 31 of 167 (18.6%) children in the placebo group (an almost two-fold increase). The researchers also found that, for children with a previous diagnosis of asthma, asthma attacks as a secondary outcome occurred in two children receiving vitamin D(3), compared with 12 children in the placebo group — a significant increase!

The research team concluded that vitamin-D(3) supplementation during the winter may reduce the incidence of influenza A.

The best source of vitamin D is the sun, of course. UV rays from the sun trigger vitamin-D synthesis in your skin. Ten to 15 minutes of sun exposure at least two times a week to your face, arms, hands or back is enough to give you a healthy dose of vitamin D. Keep in mind, however, that long winters and sun avoidance in the summer mean that you may not be getting enough vitamin D this way.

One other note: vitamin-D synthesis is less efficient in people with darker skin, and African Americans are at higher risk of deficiency than whites. Overweight adults can also be at risk because vitamin D is stored in body fat. The more vitamin D that gets stored into fat tissue, the less active vitamin there is in the blood.

If you tried to pull that crap on me or my family I would give it to you good. You are no friend, you are a pharma drone. I hope your poor helpless children don’t end up w/ a autoimmune disease due to your reckless bullying and indiscriminate injecting. I find you disgusting, this is still the land of the free, and I am free not to inject toxins that have not even proved useful into my family. Good luck w/ your alzheimers, looks like you are halfway there.

    – autoimmune crusader (12/08 08:56 AM)

Everyone should learn how to defend themselves against bullies. The flu vaccine has caused many deaths and many cases of paralysis. Its aluminum content is responsible for the twenty-fold increase in cases of Alzheimer’s in the U.S. since 1980. My parents went to the mall for their yearly flu vaccine starting in the ‘80s, and it paralyzed my father for the last three years of his life, and caused Alzheimer’s for the last thirteen years and counting in my mother, who said sadly ten years ago, “But no one in my family has ever had Alzheimer’s.” But no one in her family had ever gotten flu shots either.

Flu is a fairly mild disease in most people. Up until five years ago, it was not recommended for children, as it is so rarely dangerous in that population. Getting the flu naturally trains the immune system to eradicate the flu virus effectively, and provides permanent immunity to that flu strain and partial immunity to its future mutations, leaving the person better able to cope with the flu in subsequent years.

I have never taken nor will I ever take the flu vaccine. I got the flu last March, and took homeopathic bryonia and oscillococcinum in the middle of the first night, when I was shaking with chills and fever. A few hours later the fever was completely gone, not to return. Elderberry in Sambucol, Umcka, Vitamin C, echinacea, and zinc lozenges were some other remedies I took, and though I still had a cough, I was able to drive ninety miles to the funeral of an old friend the next day.

I will not try to bully you, but would like to warn you that the flu vaccine is dangerous (see the story of Lisa Marks Smith, paralyzed for four years by the flu vaccine), often ineffective, and actually damages the immune system. Fighting the flu naturally confers many adventages, and naturopathic and homeopathic treatments are safe remedies to consider when combatting the flu.

    – cia parker (12/08 11:44 AM)

ALL vaccinations should be carefully considered for each and every individual child/person.  Get them one at a time, only when healthy, only when the child is not showing immune system troubles… OR THEY WILL OVERREACT to the overload on their immune system!  Some can tolerate the overreaction… some cannot!

The day our autistic son went way MORE autistic in the days after a “routine” flu shot… staying that way for THREE MONTHS… is when I became a doctor bully over vaccination schedules, and a much louder advocate for our children.

And I don’t think it’s ingredients in the vaccines that cause the troubles… it’s the impact on the immune system.

When our autistic son was being bullied into getting a second MMR, I contacted a leading DANS doctor.  He suggested our son be titered for existing immunity to the M, M and R.  He said that autistic kiddos typically wayyyy overreact to the MMR, and have abundant antibodies after just one shot.  And you know what?  He did.

The intention behind vaccines is awesome… prevent a serious illness.  But the reality is there needs to be extreme caution as to when and how to administer these to a certain segment of the population.  Advocate for vaccines… that’s your choice.  But DON’T be a vaccine bully.

    – Momo'4withspecialness (12/08 03:14 PM)

I am a health care provider, my motto is first:

DO NO HARM

second:

INFORMED CONSENT

There is no evidence to show that flu vaccines are 100% safe and
do no harm. So why would you or anyone in health care promote
this treatment? Could it be the influence of Pharmaceutical companies
that are putting profit over safety?

    – Sue (12/08 04:11 PM)

The newest study showing the flu vaccine is 59% effective is crap.  They compared 2 groups who both got the flu; one group vaccinated and the other unvaccinated.  There were 1.17 per 100 people in the vax group who got the flu and 2.47 (I think it was.47) in the unvaxed group.  divide 1.17/2.47 and you get the 59%.  WHAT CRAP!  Difference is in reality only 1 person in a hundred.  This is how statistics are twisted to fit the desired outcome.  It’s relative outcome (relative to whatever wants to be proved) versus absolute outcome (what actually is).  They pull crap like this and then wonder why we don’t trust their “science.”

    – Ben (12/08 09:34 PM)

Following up on what Mom o’ Four said, it’s true that a child at all sick should not get vaccines, but even many previously healthy children react to vaccines, no matter how carefully they are limited and spaced. My baby was given the hep-B vaccine in the hospital when she was born, although I had told her pediatrician a month earlier that I didn’t want her to get it, as I had read it often caused autism. The motto “first do no harm” was thrown overboard by the health care industry so long ago that it’s not worth even trying to remember the words. I had been tested and found to be hepatitis free months before. My baby was at zero risk of contracting hep B. A congressional sub-committee a year before (May 1999) had found this vaccine to be so dangerous that it recommended a moratorium be placed on its use. Despite that, it was given to my baby without even asking permission (the doctor had forgotten to tell the staff I didn’t want her to get it). She reacted with four days and nights of inconsolable nonstop screaming which the pediatrician tried to dismiss as colic (newborns never get colic, it follows the rule of three, at least three hours a day, for up to three months, starting about three weeks old). It was vaccine-induced encephalitis, and she was later diagnosed with autism. I got a tetanus booster when I was nineteen, and it paralyzed both arms for two days, and I later developed multiple sclerosis.
For these reasons we am completely immune to bullying from health care providers, school systems, and news outlets, and it is permanent immunity, with no need for boosters, ever.

I love the comments on this. I don’t even have anything else to say because everyone else said it all.

    – JS (12/09 03:02 PM)

If I were you, I would just practice good hygiene before I head home. And I would love to see you try to get me in a head lock. wink

    – Heythere. (12/11 03:26 PM)

My dog died from one vaccine. A friend’s daughter is maimed for life because being vaccinated. The fact that others can push these on people who are against them is frankly - evil.

    – Bethanne Elion (12/11 03:27 PM)

What a jerk. Your friends and family are better off without you. No one needs a bully in their life. Way to infringe on their rights to medical treatment. Glad I still live in a state that allows me to decide which vaccines are necessary or not.

    – FreeAmerican (12/11 03:29 PM)

My mother used to be a nursing professor who thought flu shots were safe too.  Now she can’t sit up or feed herself.  Her neurologists said that what happened to her happens all the time.

Wow, glad you think you have the authority to even make these comnents to people! Pressuring your babysitter, your uncle and ‘friends’ and then brag about it!! Wow! Fall of your pedestal please!

    – informedstrongmother (12/11 03:39 PM)

Hear Hear to pretty much every comment on this post!  I’m not sure why I even bothered to read the article considering the title.  You ARE a bully, and you SHOULD be ashamed of yourself, rather than disgustingly proud of your behavior.  I hope reality comes to visit your house sometime soon.

    – Maureen (12/11 03:49 PM)

Ofc you should be ashamed of yourself.  I’m grateful not to know any doctors like you.

    – Chava (12/11 03:54 PM)

I guess the doctor isn’t aware most flu shots still contain mercury. Mercury is one of the most toxic elements known to man. If the doctor would look at raw scientific data instead of listening to television and authority figures he could probably figure out the flu shot is worthless. That’s what I don’t understand about people who worship and believe in the modern medical system.. it’s like a religion. They don’t look at real scientific data or evidence, it’s all about how fun it is to believe in whatever the corporations/government tells you.

    – George (12/11 03:57 PM)

I am so glad to see people speaking out against this. I am so sick of hearing about how vaccines work when they don’t and can cause more harm than good. SHAME ON YOU. So many children are dying from SIDS and getting autism and its due to vaccines, and its all due to trusting your doctors. Some are damaged for life, and those are the ones who live. I would never go to a dr like you.

    – novaxes420 (12/11 03:58 PM)

what a Pharma-Bot! No better than the street dealers! I’ll Not only pass on your bullying me into poisoning myself and my children I’ll tell you to go get fucked and keep your little snot ragged kids that are sick, because you injected them with lead and live viruses, AWAY FROM US! And while you and your family are all sick this winter we’ll be sniffle free, brainiacs, and strong as Oxes because we refuse your poison! And since we’re talking bullying and dealing with political incorrectiveness MERRY CHRISTMAS! XD

    – Heidi Bray! (12/11 04:00 PM)

It’s sad there are such mis-informed and deluded people in this world, helping speed up the dangerous experiments of others.

Try buy a brain, it’s not looking like you’ll ever grow one.

    – Why not put all this energy in to actually learnin (12/11 04:01 PM)

Doctors and other vaccine promoters including manufacturers often know very little about vaccines.

Many vaccine critics often know more because they have seriously studied the subject for several years.

Here for example are 27 important issues which vaccine promoters including doctors do not know about Gardasil. Similar lists may be presented for other vaccines.

    – Mindanoiha (12/11 04:03 PM)

Flu shots, vaccines in general, and prescription drugs are all lies! Big Pharma has no interest in keeping people healthy, they wouldn’t make any $$$. Strengthen your immune system naturally and if you get the flu, you get the flu… I’d rather have the flu than brain damage or an auto-immune disorder from all the highly toxic ingredients in those things. People all over are becoming more conscious of the lies we have been fed by Big Pharma and we’re taking our health back! Educate yourselves, and stand up to “medical professionals” that use scare tactics to push vaccines, stand up to them with facts!

    – Ken (12/11 04:25 PM)

Yep. “Bully” is definitely the right term for you(among others). Fingers and toes crossed that your children grow up to be nicer and more respectful of others than you.

    – Elisabeth (12/11 04:36 PM)

There are strick laws about bullies in my state, so I am rather confused why a professional would choose that label. Educate yourself, don’t be bullied.

Can’t wait til ur flu shots cause Alzheimer’s and you die of cancer.  Too bad you never read Edward Jenner’s personal notes on how he pioneered vaccines. Then you might know how ridiculously unscientific they are and how they don’t work at all. Not to mention when we started adding dangerous ingredients to the useless concoctions children started dying and american health started declining. I’d say you’re lucky up to this point that nothing tragic has happened and hygiene is the reason you don’t catch the diseases you’re vaccinated for. Become a history buff and maybe you won’t look so stupid.

    – kristin (12/11 05:02 PM)

I am vaccine damaged from hep b shots. Over a decade of fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivity, clinical depression, failed marriage, loss of career. It’s only been since I’ve been willing to accept the vaccine as the trigger that I have started on the road to recovery. This was hard given my medical background. The last 10 years of my life have been absolute TORTURE. Good luck with your career lady. People like you destroyed mine.

    – Liz (12/11 05:04 PM)

Your logic doesn’t make sense. Why would u bully people around you to
Get their flu vaccine, wouldn’t the vaccine you made your kids get protect them? Are you that kind of “dr”?

    – Hi (12/11 05:12 PM)

Sorry, my family enjoys being healthy…so we refuse ALL vaccines. Don’t be an idiot…

    – Jennifer White (12/11 05:15 PM)

Most “doctors” nowadays aren’t healers like they’re supposed to be. Most “doctors” nowadays are nothing but glorified drug dealers! And some even label themselves as “bullies” apparently.

    – Ken (12/11 05:31 PM)

My children had severe reactions to vaccines and nearly died. People like you are disgusting. People like you almost succeeded in killing my children with your precious vaccines with a plethora of JUNK in them like carcinogens, neurotoxic metals, aborted fetal cells, squalene, polysorbate80, and so on. I doubt you even know what in the world you are coercing others to inject into themselves, maybe you should go look it up on the CDC site. I’ll give you a hint: CDC vaccine ingredient list. Have fun getting some real education and leave the rest of us alone!

    – Mom of two. (12/11 06:09 PM)

I have a very good friend who, after the flu shot, came down w/ an autoimmune condition which will require him to take lifelong plasmapheresis treatments to manage his health issues.  He would gladly take back the few minutes it took to get that shot if he could be free of what he has gone through each and every month for the last 7 years and will cont to have to do.  He is further at risk of cancer d/t the immune suppressive drugs he must be on to help control his disease.  All in all…not a good trade.

    – Carolyn (12/11 06:11 PM)

Your post was very disturbing. One day, when our civilization can look back at history and how we have messed up our immune systems by forcing man-made concoctions into the blood stream (a way that is completely unnatural and works against the body’s immune system) which are chemical-laden and destructive, you will understand that you are on the wrong side of this debate. And, the fact that you admit and seem to be proud of bullying people into getting the flu shot is disgusting. I’m sorry. Shame on you.

    – Sarah Vilmain (12/11 06:26 PM)

We are all about vitamin D, hand washing and good food in our house too. And if we get sick, we drink lots of tea with honey, get rest and continue to eat good food.  This isn’t rocket science. We also say no to vaccines, so we are all healthy, happy and active. I truly hope no one in your circle has to experience an adverse vaccine reaction, but it sounds like they all already have.

    – TrixiesMom (12/11 06:34 PM)

Quite contradictory when society and schools push the non-bullying issue. Yet, an adult does not have to adhere to the same behavior? No wonder our schools lack credibility in consistency, especially with a parent such as above. Bullying your babsitter? If my daughter was your babysitter I would first, doulbe- pay her whatever you do to never babysit for you again.  Secondly, I would ensure you no longer are in intimidation range of my child. That child is mine, to educate and handle her healthcare issues, not yours to voice your ignorance and intimidate. That’s sick in itself.

Definition of bully: A person who uses strength or power or harm to intimidate those who are weaker

And this person calls herself proud to be a bully? Preying on the weak???

I’d like to add that this above adult is a very non-educated thug. Has she ever read the flu vaccine insert? Along w/ it’s contradictions? Knows the ingredients? That the flu virus is an RNA virus? Which 3 virus types are in the yearly shot? and why? Along w/ being grown on egg embryos, that soon the vax will be grown on dog kidney cell lines? woof woof

I work in healthcare, the flu shot is useless. The 3 viruses in it mutate, shift and drift rapidly. There is nothing but natural immunity that will save your a**, along w/ a healthy diet of non-processed foods and frequent hand-washing.

    – Alicia (12/11 07:55 PM)

You’re a fascist idiot. Yes you are.

    – Linda C. (12/11 08:20 PM)

A family member works as a nurse in an Aged Care Nursing Home. When the annual Flu Shots are due for their patients they call it “Culling Season”!!! Yes, that’s right…..“Culling Season”. Why? Because patients begin dying within hours of receiving the shot or are hospitalized with complications from it. Sounds like this “doctor” has been bullied but the pharmaceutical companies!! Gone are the days of a doctor caring for their patients, seems the $$$$ are more important.

    – Jules38 (12/11 09:04 PM)

What else could I possibly say that hasn’t been.

So awesome to see this many people come together and speak the truth. I’m all warm and tingly inside!

    – freethinker (12/11 09:42 PM)

My family has been immunized against flu this year, just like every other year.

In 1918, my great-grandmother’s mother died during the Spanish flu epidemic.  My great-grandmother, 14 at the time, quit school to raise her 8 younger siblings, setting the course for the rest of her life.  I have known my entire life, based on her tales, that influenza is nothing to trifle with.

The flu shot is a safe shot.  It does not have “toxins,” it likely does not cause GBS, it has few side effects beyond a sore arm, and it is not a money-maker for pharmaceutical companies or for doctors like Dr. Zibners.

I vaccinate my children, my husband, and myself to protect us from unnecessary illness and from possibly debilitating or fatal complications.  I vaccinate us to protect those around us who are immunocompromised, who have asthma, who have cancer, or who suffer from chronic illness.  We are vaccinated because we like to visit my elderly grandmother, and we would like her around for as long as possible.

Thank you, Dr. Zibners, for being a bully!

    – Sane mother (12/11 10:17 PM)

@Sane mother- So you are saying that aluminum, mercury, formaldehyde, polysorbate 80 etc. are not “toxins”? Pharmaceutical companies make billions of dollars every year, you seriously think the vaccines they sell aren’t a part of their profits? I think you may have gotten one too many vaccines, and undoubtedly too much fluoride as well…

    – Really? (12/11 10:34 PM)

My son and I both got the vax this year.

These anti-vaxers make me laugh - they don’t realize that you can’t just cite *a* study; it has to be a *a study that supports your claim* (maybe they just have low reading comprehension skills?)

But most of the time they just make stuff up anyway…

    – non crazy mom (12/11 10:34 PM)

An addendum, the flu didn’t just kill people in 1918.  This blog post has some stories of families who lost loved ones to influenza:

http://momswhovax.blogspot.com/2011/12/their-loss-your-decision.html

    – Sane mother (12/11 10:35 PM)

You must have really touched a nerve to bring out the crazies. I’m glad that there are physicians like you who practice evidence-based medicine, and who is concerned about our children’s health.

    – Mom who bases her opinion on science not whale.to (12/11 10:39 PM)

My entire family is vaccinated.  And to Really?.  Think a bit about dose and poison.  Those compounds are found naturally all over your environment and inside of you. And I am very acquainted with formaldehyde.  My body makes it every day as part of its job.

    – missy (12/11 10:46 PM)

Just another brainwashed doctor making money from pumping chemicals into his victims…

    – Angela (12/11 10:51 PM)

Oh lol. At least you’re honest, I’ll give you that. I wish more doctors were, then I’d know who to avoid when my unvaccinated and very healthy family go to the… oh, wait. Can’t actually remember the last time any of us needed pharmaceuticals. Funny that.

    – Liss (12/11 11:43 PM)

You are going to lose your friends. Anyone who stays your friend after being bullied into getting a flu shot, just doesn’t have high enough self esteem to actually have a friend.  You are also going to lose your babysitter, your children and anyone else who gets sick by having their immune system unnecessarily and abnormally provoked, leaving behind a trail of toxic waste to eliminate.  You are going to lose some of them because eventually they will get sick.  But before they die, you and the other vaccine happy doctors will have many prescriptions and other such “help” to offer, I’m sure.

    – sanedoc (12/11 11:55 PM)

We’re a proud vaccinating family, and I also encourage friends and family to trust evidence-based science!

"WHAT I LIKED: This book is written in a funny, down to earth way that doesn't make you feel like an idiot. I really would have appreciated something like this when my kids were really little and I freaked out over everything they put in their mouths. It has a scenario/question and answer format, with clear answers on when not to panic and when to call 911."
