Q. My son just ate his crayons. Should I rush him to the emergency room?

Dr. Zibners' Answer:

Not today! Most things found in the arts and crafts desk, such as crayons, markers and paste are nontoxic and won’t hurt a kid when tasted or eaten in small amounts. However, it’s always safest to check with your pediatrician or local Poison Center (1-800-222-1222) when you find your kid eating something that isn’t normally considered food.

"WHAT I LIKED: This book is written in a funny, down to earth way that doesn't make you feel like an idiot. I really would have appreciated something like this when my kids were really little and I freaked out over everything they put in their mouths. It has a scenario/question and answer format, with clear answers on when not to panic and when to call 911."
