Despite receiving a D in Library Sciences at the age of ten, Dr. Lara Zibners persevered in her academic studies, graduating cum laude from the Ohio State University School of Medicine. She then completed both a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and is currently board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine. In 2006 she resigned her position as assistant professor of pediatric emergency medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City to relocate to Great Britain.
Currently living in London, she is an honourary consultant in the paediatric accident and emergency department (the British equivalent of a plain old ER pediatrician) and divides her professional time between writing, speaking, teaching and doctoring. Her personal time is divided between parenting two toddlers and her middle-aged husband and hiding in the bathroom in search of some peace and quiet.
